Mt Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, has been granted World Heritage status

Mt Fuji is not only the highest, but also a beautiful mountain. You may see it, if weather is good, when you are descending toward the Narita or Haneda Airports and taking shinkansen (express train) from Tokyo to Nagoya. You can go to “gogoume” (a half way to the top) by a car/bus. It is a sightseeing spot, and also can be a base point for a short hike or climbing to the top! (about 6 hours)
